Love what you do, and you will work harder than ever before

There’s a saying that if you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life.

Tim Cook’s reply

“At apple, I learned that is total crock.”

When you find a job you’re passionate about, you will work harder than you ever thought possible—but the tools will feel light in your hands.”

For many people who suppress their creative urges, I believe this is the ultimate goal. Rather than freedom from work, Beyond freedom is making a choice. It is not to have every option open to you, but to choose to sacrifice for the one option you care about the most.

“Fall in love with some activity, and do it! Nobody ever figures out what life is all about, and it doesn’t matter. Explore the world. Nearly everything is really interesting if you go into it deeply enough. Work as hard and as much as you want to on the things you like to do the best. Don’t think about what you want to be, but what you want to do.” — Richard Feynman, The Feynman Lectures on Physics
