On Brevity

One cannot hope to digest what is too large a meal. Similarly one could not hope to absorb knowledge which is filled with too much fluff.

Brevity is a core skill in writing, speaking, and the articulation of ideas and opinions.

Without brevity, listeners will become lost in your slew of words while losing track of the meaning of what you are saying. Words are the building blocks to communicate the abstract, but this also means they’re only decoration. The better you can get across the meaning without too many words will always be better for understanding and comprehension.

It is the speaker/writers duty to have a precise word choice in order to minimize fluff. If your reader cannot understand you, you will lose them. The same goes in conversation though the effect is markedly more annoying as you are relying on their understanding to continue to build an idea lest you fall to lecturing.
