The flea jar experiment

It’s all over the place now but this is my favorite practical example showing the power of Limiting beliefs.

Fleas can jump remarkably high, it’s part of why they are so damn hard to catch, they basically teleport.

Researchers put a group of fleas into a jar with a closed lid, and after banging their heads too much they realized they couldn’t jump as high as they wanted to, there was a physical barrier. They adjusted their jumping to be just below the lid to avoid more brain damage.

Once the fleas were removed, they continued to jump at a maximum height of how high they jumped within the jar. For the rest of their lives.

Even though they were out of the jar, they still believed they could only jump so high.

What jars are we holding ourselves in?
